{"id":464,"date":"2016-12-19T14:17:46","date_gmt":"2016-12-19T14:17:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cubebackup.com\/blog\/?p=464"},"modified":"2018-06-03T06:35:00","modified_gmt":"2018-06-03T06:35:00","slug":"how-to-solve-the-authorization-failed-problem-in-the-initial-configuration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cubebackup.com\/blog\/how-to-solve-the-authorization-failed-problem-in-the-initial-configuration\/","title":{"rendered":"How to solve the &#8220;Authorization failed&#8221; problem in the initial configuration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The initial setup of CubeBackup is a little complicated, and some of our users might run into the &#8220;Google Apps authorization failed!&#8221; error when clicking the &#8220;Test&#8221; button in the initial configuration of CubeBackup.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cubebackup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/autherr.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-467\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cubebackup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/autherr.png\" alt=\"auth-failed\" width=\"671\" height=\"560\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you have carefully followed the instructions at\u00a0<a title=\"CubeBackup Initial setup \" href=\"https:\/\/www.cubebackup.com\/first-time-run.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.cubebackup.com\/first-time-run.html<\/a>, but still failed to pass the authorization test, please check the followings steps:<br \/>\n<i>NOTE: The following\u00a0items are listed in descending order of likelihood.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>1. In a few cases, G Suite domain-wide\u00a0authorization needs some time to\u00a0propagate. So you can just wait for several minutes and then click the <strong>Test<\/strong> button again.<\/p>\n<p>2. Are the Admin SDK, Drive API, Calendar API, Contact API and Gmail API enabled in <a style=\"font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;\" title=\"Google developer console\" href=\"https:\/\/console.developers.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google API console<\/a>? \u00a0 A quick way to confirm: all of the above APIs should be listed in <strong style=\"color: #000000; font-style: normal;\">API Manager<\/strong> -&gt; <strong style=\"color: #000000; font-style: normal;\">Dashboard<\/strong> -&gt;<strong style=\"color: #000000; font-style: normal;\"> Enabled APIs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>3. The\u00a0Client Name\u00a0in your <strong><a title=\"G Suit admin console\" href=\"https:\/\/admin.google.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google App\/GSuit \u00a0admin console<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Security<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Advanced settings<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Manage API Client access<\/strong> should be the created Service Account&#8217;s client ID (e.g.:10847638222459), not an email address.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cubebackup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/domain-auth.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-475\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cubebackup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/domain-auth.png\" alt=\"domain-auth\" width=\"882\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0Make sure that \u00a0&#8220;Enable API access&#8221; is checked in <strong style=\"font-style: normal; color: #222222;\">Google Apps admin console<\/strong> -&gt; <strong style=\"font-style: normal; color: #222222;\">Security<\/strong> -&gt; <strong style=\"font-style: normal; color: #222222;\">API reference<\/strong> -&gt; <strong style=\"font-style: normal; color: #222222;\">API access. <\/strong>Generally, &#8220;Enable API access&#8221; is checked by default.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cubebackup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/enableApi.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-477\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cubebackup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/enableApi.png\" alt=\"enableapi\" width=\"935\" height=\"412\" \/> <\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. If your computer is running a fresh installation of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008, and you have not installed all of the updates, the problem may be that you are missing hotfix <a class=\"alink\" style=\"color: #006db8;\" href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/2468871\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KB2468871<\/a>\u00a0for the .Net Framework 4.0. Download the hotfix\u00a0<a class=\"alink\" style=\"font-weight: normal; color: #006db8;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=3556\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>, and install it. You may be required to restart your computer before the update takes effect.<\/p>\n<p>6. Please ensure that\u00a0<strong>www.googleapis.com \u00a0port 443<\/strong> and<strong> imap.gmail.com \u00a0port 993<\/strong>\u00a0are not blocked by your firewall\/proxy.<\/p>\n<p>7.
